1. We pass on our knowledge and skills: we know breastfeeding is natural, but it doesn't always come naturally,
it is a skill that can be learnt and taught and like all skills it can take time to become confident at it.

2. We encourage other women: we know that women succeed more and breastfeed longer when surrounded by other breastfeeding women and people who are positively encouraging you in your choice to breastfeed.

3. We offer support: we're here to support mums who choose to breastfeed whether it is for 1 day or beyond a year.
It's your choice and we will support you along the way. Whether it be returning to work, expressing, mix feeding or
stopping, we're always here to support you.

Interested in becoming a Peer Supporter? Contact Amanda Wheeler on 01245 461191 for details of upcoming training.

Bosom Buddies is a network of Peer Supporters working on a voluntary
basis in conjunction with NHS Central Essex Community Services and our
local Children's Centres. Peer Supporters are mums who have breastfed their
children and feel passionately about supporting other mums. We have all
completed a 10 week training course and undergo continued training and assessment.

We currently run 8 support groups across mid Essex and are also on hand to offer assistance
to new mums in St. Johns Hospital and will soon be supporting mums in St. Peters Hospital.
